Karen's Weekend Assignment this week asks What is your favorite form of transportation, and why?

I love to walk. I walk for pleasure, but I also like to walk to and from errands. When I work for clients in the city, I enjoy walking home from their offices.

I live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and it's a gift to be able to enjoy the architecture, the people, the dogs, and the birds that surround a walker.

I enjoy a weekly walk to Trader Joe's (where there's usually a long line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot); I pick up a dozen items and walk home with them in my backpack. I get a scenic stroll, a healthy dose of exercise, and an errand checked off my To Do list.

Driving can be fine, too, especially if you can schedule it outside of rush hour; the sense of solitude can be a welcome respite (at least if you don't hit ugly traffic), and it certainly beats walking for distances over 10 miles. But when I can, I love to use my own two feet.
