As the dawn breaks, I see her kneeling
Picking up the bits of glass where they lay
And she says "It's just as well that he left me"
But I hear the hurt in what she doesn't say
Audio
A few of my songs, most as extremely rough recordings.
Crawl out of bed
And I wish I was with you
Absent-minded breakfast
That I wish I could share with you
Drive myself to work
And I wish I was going with you
This song is only partly autobiographical. Parts are completely made up.
By the time I've cleared away
The fallen rocks and the debris
The obstacles that pave the way
The hard miles between you and me
I had to study history when I was a kid
But I don't remember who did what and I don't know why he did
But if I'd asked the teacher just what difference it makes
Summer's coming, I feel it in the air
Breeze smells of grass and storm
Feel the thunder brush my hair
All wild and warm
All my memories at their posts
Someday I'd like to write a whole series of songs using concepts from physics as metaphors.
I wrote this about a good friend after we lost touch. Since then, we've reconnected, and I am happy to know things are going well.
