So this one's interesting: it's a four-letter word.

I'm not getting a lot of clues from the punctuation.

A few phrases catching my eye:

The █████ of the ████ is opposite to ████ of the ██████, and ████ in ████ is opposite to ████ of the ████.

It is ███ as round as ███████ ████ and ███████ to the █████.

 ... so it's round. Hm.

So, let's see what we can get with some guesses.

Use turned out to be a heading; the first paragraph in that section starts, "████ ███ ████ ████ since ███████████ times. It is of..." That all suggests we're talking about a substance or a concept - not something the article writers wanted to use in the plural (unlike Screw, where the article was full of the plural form).

And there's this: " "████" is a material, and a tool. "

So before I guessed prehistoric, I was pretty sure that was the missing word in "since ███████████ times" ... and I was right, but that didn't really gain me anything.

I'm really surprised there's no mention of iron.

So I mulled, and mulled, and staring at "████ ███ ████ ████ since ███████████ times.", I thought, hemp? Rope? and I figured rope was more likely to appear in an article about hemp, so I tried Rope, and there it was.

It feels like I went from no idea and circling around the concept to a sudden flash of possibility.
