I was so lucky to get to see the latest Wim Wenders film recently: Perfect Days.
I love Wings of Desire, and so many of his other films are on my list, especially Alice in the Cities.
But I'd seen the trailer for Perfect Days, and I was really looking forward to it.
I just loved it.
As with so many things I love, it inspired me to go find out more about some of the things it showed me - for example:
- komorebi, the Japanese word for sunlight filtering through trees
- the works of William Faulkner and Patricia Highsmith (especially The Terrapin) (I don't think I've read any of their works, yet)
- the writer Aya Koda
But mostly I just loved spending time with Koji Yakusho's character, and sinking into his way of being in the world.
I think this is a movie I'll return to.
